Very rare WWII Saginaw Gear roll stamped M2 carbine. Originally manufactured in 1943 by Saginaw Steering Gear Company. Excellent condition, retains 98% of the refurbished parkerized finish with some scattered light handling marks and some light cycling wear. Mechanically excellent with a Winchester trigger housing and Inland stock and registered by Rock Island Armory of Geneseo. The wood is also excellent.The front of the barrel is marked "UNDERWOOD/1-44". It also has the late round bolt with a stamped adjustable rear sight. It has a late M2 potbelly type walnut stock with a four rivets handguard. It comes with an green canvas sling. An evolution of the M1 Carbine, the M2 was intended to give America's "second line" soldiers a boost in firepower.
