Item #861 - Hotchkiss Portative .303. model of 1909. These were carried in leather scabbards by cavalry horses and could be put into action immediately by snapping on the quick-release tripod. Using a quick-change barrel, these guns were used through both wars and not declared obsolete until 1946.Serial numbers match including barrel (rarely seen). Lovely brass and nickel tripod. All original and excellent condition complete outfit with rare belt loader in original box, full box of belts and a full box of feed strips. Classic pre-WW1 gun. A nearly identical outfit sold at the Julia auction last fall for $34,000. Take this complete outfit for $14,900. A complete parts set is available to the buyer for an additional $500. |
